Director of the Center for Chicago Programs, Associate Dean of the Faculty and Composer in Residence, and member of the Music Department faculty, Rami Levin, is leaving the College after the upcoming year. She plans to move to Brazil with her husband in the summer of 2010.
Since her arrival at the College in 1994, she has served five years as the Director of the Center for Chicago Programs and Associate Dean of the Faculty and Composer in Residence. She has spent 16 years as a faculty member of the Music Department.
As a Full Professor in the Music Department, Levin "enhanced the Department's curriculum, oversaw the development of our orchestra and chorus, created and guided the exceptional Lake Forest Lyrica Concert Series, and dramatically expanded the overall presence of music studios and music performance on our campus," said President Steve Schutt.
Levin has also written several pieces as a resident composer, which have been recorded by the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Slovak Radio Orchestra, and many others. She was recognized with an ASCAP Composers Award every year since 1994.
As the Associate Dean of Faculty, Levin has overseen progress in the student internship program and helped guide the development of the Women Faculty Caucus.
As the Director of the Center for Chicago Programs, Levin has helped develop close relationships with many prominent Chicago cultural institutions and has organized hundreds of class trips from the College to Chicago.
