The first Muslim elected to the US Congress told a capacity crowd at the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel that while President Barack Obama's election is a major step forward in American race relations, he would not say that the work of the civil rights movement was over.

Despite the economic crisis, this year's donations to Lake Forest College are roughly on track with last year's, totaling $7.2 million this year. That figure is slightly less than the $7.7 million raised by Jan. 31 last year, according to President Stephen Schutt.

With the fall room selection process nearing, Lake Forest College's Office of Residential Life (ResLife) could shake up students' current living situations if a proposal to improve first-year students experiences is approved. Following presentations to Student Government last week and the Retention Planning Team today, the plan is expected to become ResLife policy.

RUMOR: The campus mailroom has stopped selling stamps, so postage can be purchased only on envelopes ready to be mailed. FACT: Mail Services sells stamps in booklets of 20 for $8.40. For those who do not want to buy an entire book of stamps, Mail Services will meter their mail on site, which obviates the need to apply an actual stamp.
